“Research on smart adaptive buildings with learning-based energy management”项目负责人(PI),2022.01-2023.12
项目简介:The term “smart buildings” refers to buildings that can take intelligent decisions with respect to managing their energy. A crucial component of a smart building is a “smart brain”, i.e. a smart energy management system capable of taking decisions with respect to availability of renewable energy sources, control of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), control of appliances, lights etc. The energy management system should operate these control decisions taking into account user behavior and preferences, occupancy schedules, as well as other factors such as building characteristics. Unfortunately, the quest for “smart brains” in “smart buildings” presents a set of challenges that are largely unsolved. Even the most modern energy management systems cannot implement smart decisions with respect to controls, demand response actions, or user behavior. This is because current energy management systems are not able to recognize and learn the different energy flexibility of different buildings, they neglect or do not learn from user behavior. Using tools from learning-based control and reinforcement learning, this proposal will study how to design smart energy management programs that self-optimize and evolve together with the user behavior.
